Mountain Sky Jump Start

Jump Start is a program for our in-coming 7th graders.  It is designed to help students get to know the campus, each other, and teachers.  Fun, engaging activities lead them around the school using verbal and non-verbal skills and developing a sense of belonging and trust.  The activities are theme based to add a dimension of fun.  This year's theme is X-MEN Eagleocalypse.

Below is a portion of the letter sent home during the summer.

Training Dates:  Professor X’s Mountain Sky School for Exceptional Children will open its gates on July 26 and 27 from 8:30 – 11:00 am for Eagle training.

Once again there is a need to call together the X-Men.  Apocalypse, the first and most powerful mutant in the universe, has been amassing the powers of many other mutants. Upon awakening after thousands of years, he is disillusioned and he has begun recruiting a team of powerful mutants, including the disheartened youth led by Magneto, to take over the world. With the reputation of the world’s youth and the fate of Earth hanging in the balance, Professor Charles Xavier (Professor X) has created a new school for exceptional youth. Perched on a nearby mountain and free to train, Professor X and his Uncanny X-Men are training new recruits, E-Men (E for Eagle), to stop their greatest nemesis, save the world, and prove the true greatness of our youth.  Some fear that it is the age of Apocalypse, but for those preparing with the E-Men, it is the Age of Eaglocalypse!

Purpose:   Your training will prepare you to be the next wave of E-MEN.  You all will have to learn to work together, be creative, and use your resources well, otherwise the Mountain Sky and all of the world youth will fall under the evil grip of Magneto’s mutant henchman, Apathy.  We’ll teach you to connect with your inner powers which makes our school safe and pulls us all together to serve humanity.  Your training will help you overcome fear of the transition to Middle School.  Being an E-Man comes with the highest moral obligation.  You will all need to support and help one another as you face the challenges that lie ahead.

Some activities:   Icebreakers, Team builders, and Scavenger Hunt

Transportation:

Buses will be available to certain areas to transport mutants to Mountain Sky.  We have included a schedule for those traveling across time or space, and a map of Professor X’s School.  However, if you plan to travel separately, please be sure to arrive and depart promptly.  Mystique may be lurking about in disguise, so arrive no earlier than 10 minutes prior to the beginning of the Training.

Upon arrival:

All recruits (students) will report to the cafeteria to meet your X-Men trainers (teachers).  There, you will be assigned to a class to complete your training.

What to Bring:

You may bring your own supplies (snacks/water). Other equipment will be provided.

Being E-Men and E-Women requires vigorous activity, so dress comfortably, but remember dress code applies anytime.  (Hats, bandanas, visors, flip-flops, or tube/tank tops will be unnecessary.  Bare midriffs, exposed undergarments, or inappropriate slogans on clothing will result in being left alone with an angry Wolverine

Expectations:

We all know the challenges young mutants face while leading a disciplined and dedicated life.  Those who stray are all around, but together we can rid Mountain Sky of their corrupting influence.  However, if spies from Apocalypse or Magneto slip through, their corrupting influences could be unstoppable, so if we must, we will remove those who wish to disrupt our training.  Being on time, and working hard as a member of your team, will ensure that we make Mountain Sky safe from Apocalypse.

If you have any further question please feel free to call us at 896-6105 or 896-6100.
